VFC Family Day 07

Our Family Day was held on the 28th of April 2007 at the Downtown East Wild Wild Wet. Total attendance was slightly more than a thousand. We had our event from 10am-2pm, started with ice breaking games, VFC workout and official opening ceremony by our Senior Pastor Rick Seaward.

I was the Emcee for that day and of course enjoyed every bits of it. Many prizes to be given out that day. Items like thumb drives were given to those who responded to me. All I wanted them to do was to respond. It was so simple to get a prize!!! So much so that everyone got excited, almost all were at the edge of their seat, ready to respond to whatever I wanted them to do. Hee, hee….. that surely made my day!!!! What an effective way to get people participate!!!! Responsiveness and full participation is what all Emcee would love to achieve.... and of course that would contribute to the success of the whole event.

Our Goal for that day was to allow everyone to relax and have fun and indeed "ALL HAD GREAT FUN" for that day!!!! Thank God for excellent weather too! :o)))

We started with our VFC Boggie Workout, led by the “professional” workout instructors whom I’ve invited. They were from different workout clubs like “No More Fats Workout Club”, “No More ‘How Zya’ (glutton) Club”, “No Oil Club”, “See Muscle Grow Club”, “Only Water Club” and “Only Fruits & Vegetable Club”.

All the April “babies” were also being invited to the front where the whole group sang them a birthday song. Thereafter, I invited our 3 pastors (Bro Paul, Bro Mohan and Sis Yeen Fun) each to relate a story of their past. Out of the 3, only one was telling the truth and the birthday “babies” had to guess who was telling the truth.

Bro Paul Lim relating his incident as a Boy Scout...... how frantic he was when he was lost in the jungle......but was extremely relieved when he was being found......

Me, interpreted into Mandarin for him....

Bro Mohan said..."All my stories are always TRUE"...... hahahhaha.....guess how many laughed when he started by saying that? I supposed he sounded "cheeky" and therefore people didn't think that he was actually telling the truth ..... hee, hee.... that's the whole idea..... so real yet not real, not so real but real.....people has to guess.....who is who and what is what.......

He said he gave his friend a "memorable" day by pushing him into the pool!!!!

Sis Yeen Fun started by saying that she didn't wish to relate her incident but for the sake of everyone, she chose to be vulnerable...... what a great way to start ;->

Her story was so captivating that many believed in her!!!!

The truth is being revealed........ Bro Mohan was telling the truth!!!! ;-P

Hee, hee..... see, I told you I was telling the truth.....why didn't believe in me???? :o))))

Look at how amused the crowd was as they listened to each of their story :o))))

Next, I wanted four persons to come to stage and of course the first four who did what I wanted them to do will get a thumb drive.

Many tried to dash to the front and six ran up the stage…..

but I needed only 4, so the other two had to return to their seats.

This time round, they will not get the thumb drive until they followed my instructions. I got each of them to repeat the “tongue twister”.

I started with the youngest and the simplest ….. The boy has to repeat the sentence…. “She sells sea shells on the sea shore”.

Ha ha...try to follow me...

What about this one... "Peter Piper picks a pack of pickled pepper, a pack of pickled pepper Peter Piper picks. If Peter Piper picks a pack of pickled pepper, where's the pack of pickled pepper Peter Piper picks?

Hummmmm...... how to make it simpler for you???

ha, ha.... do it slow.....I'll help you along...

Try a Chinese version..... "Gao gao shan shang yi tiao teng. Teng tiao tou shang gua tong ling. Feng chui, teng dong, tong ling dong. Feng ting, teng ting, tong ling ting".

"Hur...... Aiyo, impossible lah!!!"

"No worries, do it slowly, sentence by sentence..... let's try....."

Ha! Last one will be the toughest!!!! Not just speaking but also add in the sound effect and coordination of action. Say "5555" in Teochew, add the sound effect using the tongue to create the sound of the word "5".....

.... add in the action ........

"Well Done!!!! Good try!!!" Here's your reward of thumb drive!

Now, who can do it on your own? One last thumb drive to be given out!

Uncle responded......but managed only to say "5555" in Teochew without the sound effects...... Sorry uncle, I need the sound effect and action too.....

What about this brave soul? Can she does it with sound effect?

Try it! Wow, she was so sporty and did it well!!!

About to walk off with the thumb drive but wait!!!! Forgot to get her do the action!!!!

"Action and sound effects together? NO PROBLEM!!!!!" hahhahhaha..... she was so comical that I couldn't help but laugh my heart out!!!!

Time to divide the group for the water telematches..... here's the leaders for every team..... divided according to the color of their wrist band.....

First water telematch is: Catch Em Fish!!! - Player jumps into the pool and attempts to catch 1 fish, then run/swim back for the next player to take over. The team to catch the most number of fishes out of the pool wins.

Run Lavette run!!!!

Don't let the fish escape!!!!!

Hahhaha got another one!!!!

Who got the most????

Water Telematch 2: Sponge Up The Volume!!! - Players will have to sponge up as much water as possible using only what they are wearing and squeeze the water into a pail. The fastest team to fill the pail to the brim wins.

Hahha.....so fun!!!!!

Come on.....Quick!!!!!! Run to me!!!!!

Squeeze it out!!!!! Every single drop!!!!

Water Telematch 3: Balancing Board!!!! - A big foam board will be placed in the middle of the pool. Each team will be given 1 minute to try to get as many players as possible onto the board. Once the 1 minute is up, we will get the rest who are not on the board to move aside. We will then do a 10 seconds count before counting the number of players on the board. The team with the most number of players on board wins.

Push!!!! Get the board out!!!!

Climb!!! Hold tight.....don't fall!!!!!

Balance!!!!

Ready? ok, let's stand......slowly.....find the balance.....grab each other......

Ahhhhhhh....... I'm falling!!!!!!

SPLASH!!!!!!!

Water Telematch 4: Bouncing Baby!!!! - The team forms a human chain to pass the water balloon to the final point. Player at the starting point fills the balloon with water and pass it on to the first pair of the human chain who is holding the towel. First pair of human chain pass the water balloon to the second pair without touching the balloon. Second pair to third pair until it reaches the last player. Last person of the line has to catch the water balloon. The team with the most water balloon wins.

Fill as many balloons!!!

All waiting eagerly for the balloons to be filled with water...

Here it comes.......Catch it!!!!!

As for the elderly and the young, we also had fringe activities for them....... Massage!!!!!!!

All those who are 55 years of age and above enjoyed free massage by the team who are blind. Though they are blind, their skills were excellent!!!! Of course for that instant..... I claimed to be 55 years old and got my free massage too.......hee, hee......believe me, they were superb!!!!!

Just look at the queue!!!!!

As for the young...... Face painting adds to the color of the whole event!!!

"I want more colors....."

"Hee, Hee.... I like the snake!"

"Hey Anne, help me to add colors.....I've done the left side but cannot do the right......please help me..... More colors......make it nice :o))))))

"Angel on the right...."

"Princess on the left...... Cool ya?!!!!

"I like mine too!!!! Butterfly and flower......"

Free Ice Cream was also available for us to cool and quench our thirst!!!

"Give me the tub ice cream...."

"I want that slimy greenish jelly-like ice cream....... yum, yum...... it tasted so different!!!!"

"Time for Lunch!"..... Redeem your lunch and dessert at the counter......

HUNGRY players queuing for their lunch ;-P

"I want the spicy type"

After lunch, it's relaxing time!!! We had performers to entertain the group. Acrobatic Show and Quick Change Magic Show.

Great Stunt by AB Brothers!!!!

Balancing on only three bottles!!!!

"throw that ball towards me?" "Not to low.... so I could catch......"

"Woooo...... perfect catch!!!!"

"balancing act....."

"Oh dear, why am I being attracted to the giant magnet????!!!!!!"

"Thank you AB Brothers for the excellent acrobatic performance!!!"

Here's the Quick Change Magic Show.....

Lastly, it's PRIZES time! Take a look at all the prizes..... LCD TV..... DVD Players...... lots of MP 3 and Ipod etc

Go on Sis Caroline, give us the first blessed person.....

Sis Hazel, look for my number!!! hahahhaha!!!!! .......

Who want MP 3???? Shout out loud for Sis Sandy to pick your number!!!!!

It's time for the Ipod draw..... You can almost hear a pin drop to the ground..... everyone holding their breathe and said a prayer for their name to be called. Sis Dianne, please draw mine!!!!!

And...... the final grand prize of the LCD TV!!!!!........ Bro Han, who's the most blessed one among us????? You choose and you pick.

"Can I pick my own number?" "Of course not but you can pick mine!" ;-P

"Hey sister, it's too heavy for you..... let me help you carry to MY HOME!!!!" ;-))))))

Bro Kenny Soh, our pastor who was the in-charge of the whole event, gave his appreciation to those who participated in the event and those who helped to make this day a successful family day of the year!!!!

Last but not least, we want to give thanks to God who granted us a wonderful day and beautiful weather!!!
